Health Testing
DNA
It all begins with DNA. DNA is the most important test for us to test our dogs with before adding them into our breeding program. DNA testing tells us the very important details before we ever decide to place two dogs together to bring pups into this world. We need to know all of the conditions a dog is clear for so that their offspring won’t be affected. We DNA test with Pawprint!
DNA Testing we do: EIC, D-Locus, CNM, PRA-PRCD, HNPK, MCD, Copper Tox., & Stargardt
OFA ( Hips, eyes, elbows, heart)
What does OFA stand for? OFA stands for Orthopedic Foundation of Animals. They are an organization that reviews radiographs submitted by responsible breeders. They then give a result representing the hips and elbow of dogs and if they will be suffering from dysplasia. They also overview scans of eyes to make sure blindness will not be an occurrence in a dog. Our dogs are all or will be tested to make sure that there isn’t an occurrence of any dysplasia in our breeding dogs to ensure your pups from us will be happy and healthy! We test for Hips, Elbows, Eyes (annually), Advanced Cardiac Echos.
Behavioral
Temperament plays an important part in an animals life, an even bigger part in the life the animal plays in yours. Our dogs go through extensive behavioral evaluations. From the day our dogs come into our home, wether it be as a pup or an adult they start to go through behavioral tests. We make sure that there isn’t any aggression in our dogs, they are responsive to basic training, and are mindful and obedient. These are all some of the basic qualities we believe our dogs should be able to pass onto their offspring. Although we do take waitlists down of those who are interested, we ask that you do take that important survey we provide on our website so we can help you get paired with the dog that will be most accommodating into your lifestyle.
